Body panels, floor, fenders, torque boxes, and rocker panels were all restored or replaced. Car came home summer 2007, as an empty, painted shell. Documentation & History: Every car has history. Countless hours were spent finding the correct 1969 items to keep the car correct. full photo documentation and photographic evidence of the entre car and engine, coming apart and going back together, hundreds of photos on a memory stick. correct 69 metal elbow style, complete with working vacuum air inlet door. valve covers are the correct round top chrome style, correct for 1969. dip in the rear spoiler. This is a quick way to see that this is an original correct part. front NOS fenders are the correct style with the rolled up wheel flare. correct paint marking and codes on the car to make it look as it came off the assembly plant floor starting instruction on the drivers sun visor license plate installation instructions on the rear bumper original sales invoice, original Build Sheet an original and copies of the Marti Report Early in its life the engine was replaced with a BOSS service block. It retained all its other original parts, including transmission. The block has the correct service block number, but does not have stamped VIN, although it would have been easy to stamp the VIN on the block, no one felt it was necessary. Engine was completely and professionally rebuilt by Mike Morrison. We kept the engine as true to original as possible. Engine was tested and broken in on a dyno in engine shop in Detroit. In attendance at the dyno test was an engineer on the original Boss 302 program. His help and advice was paramount in the tuning of the engine. In the tuning, we tried 4 different carburetors. In keeping with street ability and reliability, we stayed with a 600cfm, vacuum secondary carb. It was decided at the time we would leave the flywheel scatter shield on the car for safety reasons. We also changed from the original duel point ignition and went with a more modern electronic ignition. None of this changed the appearance as the engine still has the original distributer. Reliability was the main focus and so, it was decided also to go with a 70 BOSS style HURST shifter. Exhaust is a 70 Boss, style stainless steel system, with correct exhaust manifolds. The smog equipment and the rev limiter were not replaced during the restoration. During the restoration we found the original BUILD SHEET, still on the drivers side floor, never touched, even after 30 years. We also found the correct inner fender VIN stamps, still visible and correct. During the restoration, we researched photos, old archives and talked to many experts in Boss mustangs. Another valuable tool was the BOSS 302 Bible by Donald Farr. Body: All sheet metal was replaced except for the original hood and roof assembly. Either NOS parts or aftermarket parts were used. We had collected NOS parts over the years of ownership and had them in waiting. A few liberties were taken in the rebuild. One was adding LED sequential taillights on the car; another was adding a high end sound system. The original AM radio that still fits perfectly into the dash is with the car.
