The 2015 Camaro Z/28 is not your average muscle car. It’s a no-compromise, purpose-built performance machine born for the racetrack and honed on the Nürburgring. Built as the most hardcore variant of the 5th-gen Camaro, the Z/28 revives a legendary nameplate—but with modern engineering and race-proven components that make it one of the most focused American performance cars of the decade.
At the heart of the Z/28 lies the 7.0L naturally aspirated LS7 V8, hand-assembled at GM’s Performance Build Center. This iconic small-block, shared with the C6 Corvette Z06, produces 505 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. The throttle response is immediate, the exhaust note is ferocious, and the power delivery is linear and relentless all the way to its 7,000 RPM redline. Paired to a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual transmission, the driving experience is raw, mechanical, and deeply engaging—no flappy paddles, no filters, just pure driver control.
Finished in a menacing black-on-black color scheme, this 2015 Camaro Z/28 is the ultimate expression of track-focused American muscle. Its sleek, all-black exterior is complemented by a matching black interior, giving it a stealthy, aggressive look that turns heads and commands respect.
But straight-line speed isn’t the Z/28’s mission—cornering is. Chevy engineered this car to dominate road courses, and every part of the chassis reflects that. It rides on race-grade Multimatic DSSV (Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve) dampers, offering incredibly precise damping and control in high-load cornering situations. Stopping power is immense, thanks to Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brakes with massive rotors and monoblock calipers—built to resist fade lap after lap.
Grip comes from 305/30ZR19 Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires—the widest front tires ever fitted to a production car at the time—wrapped around lightweight forged aluminum wheels. These are true street-legal race tires, offering mind-bending traction and cornering capability when properly warmed up.
The exterior is both aggressive and functional. A wide-mouth front fascia, front splitter, functional air deflectors, and a rear spoiler work in harmony to generate downforce and improve cooling. Subtle Z/28 badging, a high-flow hood extractor, and an overall stripped-down, purposeful look distinguish this car from the more common ZL1 and SS trims. This is a car that looks like it belongs in pit lane—and it does.
Inside, the Z/28 is spartan by design. It features Recaro race-inspired bucket seats with aggressive bolstering, trimmed in suede microfiber and leather, providing excellent support during hard cornering. The flat-bottom steering wheel is also wrapped in suede, offering excellent grip and a motorsport feel. Standard equipment was deliberately kept minimal to save weight—many Z/28s were delivered without air conditioning or a stereo (both were optional). Every ounce counts.
Chevrolet even removed sound deadening, thinner rear glass, and deleted the tire inflation kit to bring the curb weight down and balance the chassis. It’s loud inside, it vibrates, and it transmits every bit of road and engine feedback directly to the driver—and that’s exactly how it should be.
Only 1,801 units of the 2015 Z/28 were produced, making it one of the rarest and most coveted Camaros ever built. It represents the end of an era: a naturally aspirated, manual-only, track-dominant Camaro with analog steering and minimal driver aids. It’s a love letter to the purist, and an instant classic for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
